My writing Philosophy
Writing, at its core, is simply guiding perspective.
In creative writing, we do this through our characters and the plots they find themselves in. The perspective we guide is internal and influenced by the actions of the world around them.
In UX Writing, we try to shift our own perspective to understand an unknown. An unknown can take many different forms, but they all lead to questions we ask to better guide a user through their interpretation of language.
My career has spanned fifteen years writing professionally for various audiences, with seven years working as a UX writer. During this time, I've had the opportunity to work closely with users via user interviews, learning about the challenges they face and teaching myself how to better represent them in the copy I write. Every word I write is informed by every conversation, worry, and pain Iāve heard from a user.
It is through my experience of both creative and UX writing, I have been able to apply principles of both to make delightful, yet clarity-driven, products that reflect their positions as the top of their industry.
Seeing is believing, right? So, why donāt you choose one of your own āperspectivesā and get to know me a little better!
